Reflective essay 2

Reflective Essay

In my reflective essay I will talk about cultural diversity especially in Stereotyping, Prejudice, and Discrimination. I will define each term and give some examples that I have seen or heard about. Next I will talk about how my learning will be useful in the society and I hope it will make me better. Finally I will give my opinion and recommendations.

Stereotyping is a thought process that organizes beliefs about one group of people and assigns them to everyone in that group. An example of stereotyping would be that you believe that Indian people like curry, while it might be a popular spice, I'm confident that not all Indian people like curry.  Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought or reason. For example my brother thinks that all Egyptians are liars because he knows an Egyptian man lies all the time. Discrimination is making a decision based solely on an individual's race, religion, ethnicity, cultural creed, sex or age, creating an unfair environment. An example I saw at my work that a Syrian employee works hard for 5 years and he doesn’t get promoted because he is Syrian.

Unfortunately what have been mentioned early is real problems and we face it a lot of it in our lives and I hope this will be eliminate or reduced because this can create hatred between people and this destroy whatever we done before.

week 4- Reflective task 2- what are the challenges & benefits of cultural Diversity?

Challenges & benefits of Cultural Diversity………

Cultural Diversity means different kind of people from different countries having different cultures living in one country. In this essay I will talk about cultural diversity challenges that can face us in our life also, I will talk about the benefits from cultural diversity.

Cultural diversity challenges. The challenges we can face is the difficulty in understanding each other this due to, the different languages we speak, to be more specific people coming from their countries doesn’t know your language however, there beliefs and thinking are different from yours. Although you can gain bad habits from other cultures for example some cultures consider drinking alcohol or taking drugs is fine but, that opposes your culture. Racism is the biggest challenge countries are facing due to, the uneducated people in the country. However, benefits of cultural diversity helped a lot. First of all, it helped countries to improve their educational system, economy, and a lot of things by having new ideas and new ways of thinking. Second, the people who live in the host country loved the cultural diversity because it made their life enjoyable by have different kinds of food, cloths, languages and knowing about people culture. This cultural diversity can change your life to the better.

Cultural diversity can change any host country to become one of the best countries in the world this was my point of view. I hope all people understand the cultural diversity and try to improve it by respecting each other.
